The
company provides environmental assessments and remediation for
a wide variety of clients located within the United States and
internationally. Mr. Muthig uses 20 years experience to provide
the insight and background needed to properly evaluate and determine
the best solution to a problem. Projects within the local geographic
area of South Carolina are usually directly contracted to Muthig
Environmental. Projects in locations outside the immediate service
area are completed by working with local consulting firms. In
these instances Muthig Environmental acts as a consultant to the
local company and provides expertise for the successful completion
of a project. The main goal of the company is to complete projects
in a timely and cost effective manner.
Projects

Projects
performed in areas outside the immediate geographic area of Muthig
Environmental Inc. will be completed by personnel or companies
in area with Muthig Environmental serving as consultants. We strongly
believe that a local presence is essential for the successful
operation of an environmental project. Local personnel have a
much better knowledge of the regulatory community than does Muthig
Environmental Inc.

Assessments
The
goals of an environmental assessment are to understand the natural
environment and the man-made environment associated with the site
in question. Time proven approaches for the evaluation of a site
include the evaluation of the geology and hydrogeology of the
site followed by the understanding of the contamination affecting
the soil and groundwater. Both historical and present day searches
are performed to evaluate the past and present activities that
may affect the environmental status of a site. These factors combined
with an understanding of a contaminant provide our client with
a cost effective and timely approach to the evaluation of contamination
to soil and groundwater.

Remediation
Determining
the best remedial approach for a site or contaminant involves
the review of assessment reports and knowledge of the best available
technologies to complete the project. Muthig Environmental provides
its clients with a wealth of knowledge and experience in the remediation
of contaminated soil and groundwater. A great part of this knowledge
has been gained with 14 years of experience providing various
insurance companies with evaluation of remedial alternatives for
their clients' contaminated sites located throughout the United
States.
Muthig Environmental
is not tied to any one remedial approach or strategy. This enables
the company to recommend a remedial approach without the worry
of trying to fit a type of technology that may not be the best
for a particular site. Therefore a remedial approach recommended
by our firm will be the best for the site, regardless of who may
own a type of equipment or technology to remediate the contamination.

Insurance
Evaluations and
Environmental Forensic Investigations
Muthig
Environmental provides the insurance industry with a number of
services related to the successful assessment and remediation
of a site. These services normally include environmental forensic
investigations and may entail testimony in depositions or trail.
Oftentimes these services are a combination of the other services
described herein. Much of the varied background of Paul Muthig
has can be attributed to the direct interaction in investigating
sites for insurance companies that include small spills of gasoline,
fires at chemical or industrial facilities, petroleum bulk storage
facilities, wood treating plants, former manufactured gas plants
and other types of facilities.

Regulatory
Liaison Services
Muthig
Environmental has represented various groups and their interests
before regulatory groups. Mr. Muthig has experience in the regulatory
community as a former employee of the South Carolina Department
of Health and Environmental Control and working in over 30 states
and internationally on projects or presentations that were reviewed
by the local regulatory officials and/or the EPA. The company
has an understanding of the "Regulatory Arena" and the
various roles of the people involved.

Cost
Control for Environmental Projects
A
large percentage of costs associated with environmental projects
provide no profit for the company paying for the work. Muthig
Environmental realizes this fact and strives to maintain cost
controls and all facets of a project. Furthermore we look for
ways to reuse or capture lost or spilled chemicals. For example,
in certain circumstances a percentage of floating product (petroleum
hydrocarbons) may be recovered from atop the groundwater surface
and sold or reused by the client. This is one example of limiting
the total cost of assessment or remediation being incurred by
our clients.
